AUDIENCE FETED TO IRISH SONGS AND DANCING….

 

 

The Friends of the Williston Park Public Library saw a fantastic turnout of members and

neighborhood supporters attend their afternoon Sunday, March 13, 2011, gathering in

celebration of the “wearing of the green” on March 17 th. Greg Ryan, and his lovely

daughter, Katie Ryan, gave a very lively, engaging, and upbeat performance. The

performers soon had everyone singing, clapping hands, or tapping their feet to the lively

music. Afterwards the audience enjoyed beverages and an assortment of Irish Soda

breads. All had a grand time!

FRIENDS OF WILLISTON PARK LIBRARY HOST LECTURE ABOUT SCIENCE FICTION MOVIES

 

ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON, FEBRUARY 20, 2011, A WONDERFUL TURN OUT OF PEOPLE WAS THOROUGHLY ENTERTAINED AND INFORMED ABOUT THE HISTORY OF SCIENCE FICTION IN THE CINEMA.   LITTLE AND UNKNOWN FACTS, AS WELL AS WATCHING FILM CLIPS, BY LECTURER KEITH J. CROCKER, PRESIDENT OF CINEMATIC, GAVE THE WELL-ATTENDED AUDIENCE A GOOD APPRECIATION FOR THIS FILM-MAKING ART.  A WARM ROUND OF QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOLLOWED THE LECTURE.  DELICIOUS REFRESHMENTS FOLLOWED THE AWARDING OF A GENEROUS RAFFLE GIFT TO ATTENDEE, SUSAN RUSSO.  THE FRIENDS OF WILLISTON PARK LIBRARY IS A GROUP OF FRIENDLY VOLUNTEERS WHO WELCOME EVERYONE TO JOIN AND ENGAGE IN SUPPORTING OUR GROWING LIBRARY.  THE NEXT TIME YOU ARE IN THE LIBRARY, ASK ABOUT JOINING!

The "FRIENDS" of the Library is a fully operational NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION and memberships are available. The purpose of "FRIENDS" is to promote public use and appreciation of the library as a cultural and educational asset to the community and to encourage and expand its services. Membership is open to any individual, family, business firm, or group interested in the objective of the "FRIENDS" organization.
